Marine biologist and oceanographer specializing in deep-sea fishes. I have studied the deep-sea seamount faunas and the impact of the BP oil spill on deep-sea fishes. Also interested in wildlife ecology and endangered species, with projects concerning gopher tortoises, exotic lizards, manatees, Florida lichens, and Florida cacti.
I teach a number of organismal biology courses: marine biology, vertebrate zoology, biology of fishes, evolution, coral reef ecology, conservation biology, marine conservation, history of life, animal behavior, and an interdisciplinary course combining art and science called Audubon's Nature.
I grow orchids and native Florida plants as a hobby and I like to go fossil hunting.
