WLW-ECOS Student Success Scholarship
The WLW-ECOS Student Success Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to undergraduate students in their junior and senior year with financial need. Students must also show a demonstrated interest in environmental science, through relevant experience, coursework, or exposure to the environmental field.
Award Amount: $7,500 per semester (fall and spring terms)
Students must re-apply each fall and spring.
Eligibility
- Minimum current GPA: 3.0
- Open to all undergraduate students in their junior or senior year with financial need and demonstrated interest in environmental science
- Minimum of 60 credits must have been earned overall, and be classified as a junior or senior
- Recipients of the scholarship must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
Application Requirements
Personal statement: Describe your qualifications for the award by detailing your interest in environmental science, relevant experiences, exposure to the field, and completed environmental science coursework.
Documents that are required:
- Personal statement
- Resume
- FAU transcript
Recipients will be chosen by the Schmidt College of Science’s ECOS scholarship committee.
Fall 2024 deadline to apply: Oct. 31, 2024
Spring 2025 deadline to apply: TBA late 2024

WLW-ECOS Semester by the Sea Scholarship
The Semester by the Sea is a one-semester program for undergraduate students offered by Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute and the Department of Biological Sciences, Florida Atlantic University. This program is designed to provide undergraduate students an opportunity to broaden their educational experience with a semester-long immersion in marine science, with emphasis on marine biology. Students can enjoy an immersive residential marine science experience that positions them for advanced degrees, further engagement in research, or prepares them for environment-focused career opportunities.
Award Amount: $5,000
Eligibility
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Students must demonstrate financial need.
