Confidentiality
Records and information at CAPS are highly confidential and separate from all other university records. Any recorded information about your appointments at CAPS will not be part of your academic record. The law protects the privacy of all communications between a client and a mental health professional. Information cannot be disclosed to others without your written consent, except in cases of imminent danger to yourself or others, child/dependent care abuse, court order, there is a threat to campus safety or where otherwise required by law.
Minor Status
If you are an eligible FAU student and less than 18 years of age, you must seek consent for treatment from your parent or legal guardian. As a minor, you are eligible for emergency/crisis related services at CAPS only and in a very limited way.
