Claudia LusararianClaudia Lusararian has over 25 years of teaching experience in New York, and Florida. Her undergraduate studies were achieved at Florida International University and her master’s degree is in Music Education, from the University of the Arts, in Pennsylvania.  She earned her National Boards in Early Childhood Music in 2011, and her Orff Level III Certification at Villanova University, in Pennsylvania in 2016.

As an advocate for elementary music education, Professor Lusararian’s research includes the effects of the integration of music education and its impact on student learning. In 2017, she received the Teacher of the Year award from Lake Forest Elementary School, where she worked to implement the Turn Around Arts Initiative. Through grants and many partnerships Professor Lusararian had a vital role with the L.F.E. Arts team to produce the musical The Little Mermaid that premiered at the Broward Performing Arts Center.

Professor Lusararian has served as President of the South Florida Orff Chapter for many years; organizing workshops and coordinating summer college courses for music teachers. She has served as the District 1 Chairmen for F.E.M.E.A.  Her specialties in the Orff-Schulwerk process have led her to be an active presenter in for music teachers throughout Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. She has had the honor of being the guest conductor at the 2018 Miami/Dade County Schools’ Superintendents Honors Music Festival and has been invited to be the conductor of the FEMEA Southern Regional Honors Orff Ensemble in 2020.

Professor Lusararian currently teaches at Westchester Elementary School, in Coral Springs, where she is the director of four after school ensembles including Chorus, Orff Ensemble, Recorder Club, and Little Kids Rock Band. She has attended NAfME, AOSA, and ACDA national conferences from San Diego, to Atlantic City. Locally she had performed with Nova University Singers, under the direction of Peggy Joyce Barber.

Claudia Lusararian is excited to have joined the faculty at Florida Atlantic University in 2020 as an adjunct professor, teaching Elementary Music Methods. She will be working to inspire inquisitiveness and diversity to future music educators in order to meet the needs of a quality music program.
